Our Story
Hi there, and welcome to Bear’s Den.
We’re Alex and Trey Leatherwood, and this little cabin means more to us than just a place to stay — it’s a piece of our story.

I (Alex) grew up in West Virginia, surrounded by these mountains, these backroads, and the kind of quiet that settles your soul. No matter where life has taken me, West Virginia has always been “home” in the truest sense of the word. Trey was born and raised in Texas, and while he’ll always be a Texan at heart, he’s learned to love my home state in a way that makes me fall in love with it all over again.

We live in Texas for now, building our life together, but we come back to West Virginia as often as we can. One day, we hope to retire here — slow mornings, mountain air, and the kind of peace you can’t bottle up and take with you.

When the opportunity came to take over the newly added cabin, Bear’s Den, we knew exactly what we wanted it to be: a place that feels like coming home, even if it’s your first time here. A place where you can breathe a little deeper, unplug a little longer, and experience the magic of West Virginia the way I grew up experiencing it — the way I still feel it every time we pull into the driveway.

Our hope is that when you stay here, you don’t just visit West Virginia… you feel it. You fall in love with the mountains, the stillness, the charm, and the warmth that makes this place unforgettable.
